I've had second thoughts about this person. The source given to indicate he is still alive is an interesting one, but as what looks like an amateur hobbyist's website can it be regarded as a reliable source for the purposes of keeping track of recent deaths? There appears to be mention of him in a book written in 2004, but does this prove that he was still alive then? PatGallacher (talk) 17:34, 28 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Again, 30 seconds, check out The Columbus Dispatch. Comes with a picture too. Cheers, CP 17:38, 28 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

plagiarism concerns

edit

Large parts of the article appear to be the same as on this page: http://www.daytonys.org/hall-of-fame/128-john-kenley

I have been going through and changing to remove the plagiarism, but help would be good. valereee (talk) 15:40, 11 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

I got a copy of the Eden book. Here's the passage:

"I took hear in the fact that the producer of The Sound of Music was John Kenley, the famous summer stock producer who'd worked with Ethel Merman, Marlene Dietrich, Zsa Zsa Gabor, and countless other stars. I'd worked with John before in summer stock and was extremely fond of him. He was a theatrical legend -- when he was ninety-nine years old, he could still do spectacular high kicks. When he died in 2009 at one hundred and three, the accolades poured in, praising him for his talent and ingenuity.

But that was only the half of it. The even more sensational story was that he was a hermaphrodite and proud of it. He confided in me that he'd been raised as a boy because his parents had concluded that it would be easier for him to go through life as a male rather than as a female. However, during the rest of his adult life, he chose to spend the winters in Ohio living as a man, and the summers in Palm Springs living as a woman named Joan."

Still not sure how to handle it in the article, though. Will report back when I get the Griffin book. valereee (talk) 17:11, 11 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
