Tribute website
editThe tribute website that I added as an external link has much good information that can be incorporated in the article, if it survives the AfD. --JohnnyB256 (talk) 00:28, 21 September 2009 (UTC)
RAF Officer
editNote that both his London Gazette citations (DFC, DSO) show that he was a RNZAF officer and not a New Zealander in the RAF, Should the article title (and infobox and cats)be changed after the AfD (if keep) ? MilborneOne (talk) 22:00, 23 September 2009 (UTC)
- Yes, I think that needs to be fixed. Good catch. I didn't notice it.--JohnnyB256 (talk) 22:11, 23 September 2009 (UTC)
- The confusion arises because Commonwealth squadrons actually became part of the RAF when serving in Europe and were renumbered accordingly. So the RAF and RNZAF (and RAAF and RCAF) would have been pretty much interchangeable while serving in Europe. -- Necrothesp (talk) 12:26, 24 September 2009 (UTC)
- Dont disagree with you Necro but different individuals did hold commissions in their home country while others had RAF commissions. As you said in reality they were all mixed up and part of the same team! MilborneOne (talk) 12:32, 24 September 2009 (UTC)
- Absolutely. He was still an RNZAF officer if the London Gazette says he was. -- Necrothesp (talk) 13:15, 24 September 2009 (UTC)
- The Gazette makes it very clear that he was an "RNZAF officer" even though serving with the RAF. I don't see any alternative to changing the title of the article. --JohnnyB256 (talk) 14:13, 27 September 2009 (UTC)
