- Mention of side-saddle donated by Mrs. John Phillips and used in Spring Valley from 1898 proceedings of the Oregon Historical Society

- Not sure what this is--seems to be a list of Oregon Trail pioneers. Says Phillips and wife eventually had 16 children.
Wikipedia article helped a local history blogger
editVirginia Green is a Salem, Oregon historian who specializes in historic buildings. After the demise of her website, Salem Quarterly, she started putting her content on a blog instead. She recently posted a photo of the John Phillips house, asking for info about it, and I sent her a link to the Wikipedia article. She has since found out the house's history since 1980, after talking to family members: http://discover-neighborhood-history.blogspot.com/ Great stuff, unfortunately I can't use it as a citation, but maybe I can get her to publish it somewhere. There's a nice 1950s photo on the blog showing what the house looked like before it started going unoccupied. Katr67 (talk) 22:49, 7 April 2009 (UTC)
