Down and Back Companies
editThis article needs to define what a "Down and Back Company" is. Without some sort of context, it's impossible to assess how notable this is. I would add it but I don't know what it is. –SESmith 04:56, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
- Down and back companies where 1860's era wagon trains that left Utah in the spring with exports to be sold in the East/Midwest and returned in the summer/fall with new migrants to Utah. Also called "Out-and-Back Companies" in some sources.

- Also note that this effort is notable, as it was one of the primary modes of transport for Saints heading Utah, fitting squarely between the end of handcart usage & the subsequent arrival of the railroad. -- 159.182.1.4 18:46, 6 July 2007 (UTC)
This term is used now in several bio articles, including one I stumbled on today on Horton D. Haight. It seems there is an opportunity for someone to write an article on the subject. -- 208.81.184.4 (talk) 23:42, 19 February 2009 (UTC)

Yo whats up my dudes, I am another Murdock here and I would like to change the title of Mormon to Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, thanks.
I noticed the article says he was raised by the Phelps family after age five, but there is no sources to back it up. He is part of my family history and I have reason to believe he was actually raised by the family of Philo Judd after age five until he was reunited with his father. IF you have a source saying otherwise please link it. Lacey.teel (talk) 17:01, 15 January 2019 (UTC) Lacey.Teel
