Two John Robinsons in Virginia legislature

Jackson's book also lists John H.Robinson (1857-1932), who served in the House of Delegates representing Elizabeth City, James City and York in the 1887-88 session. A graduate of the Hampton Institute, was active inthe Queeen Street Baptist Church in Hampton, and was a teacher and lawyer. But now the library's closing.22:00, 4 February 2017 (UTC)

This source covers one or mixes them up? Are they both John H. or just one? I removed the photo as it was said to be the other one noted above. Maybe User:KylieTastic, User:PigeonChickenFish or User:S0091 can help aort the subjects and photograoh out and make sure we have things straight? FloridaArmy (talk) 18:51, 22 January 2024 (UTC)

FloridaArmy, Ms.Bard yes there where multiple "John Robinson"'s that served in the Virginia legislature - see this for the house members but this is for the Virginia Senator who served 69-73. S0091 yes Forner lists a "John Robinson" (no other initials or names) 1822-1908 (so the death contradicts) who served the Senate 1869-73. FloridaArmy was correct to remove the photo as that was from the 1887-88 legislature and a member of the house not the senate. KylieTastic (talk) 20:11, 22 January 2024 (UTC)

Unfortunately attempts to fix the article were reverted without further investigation because they caused formatting issues and were uncited. This source is recommended. Yeoman's work User:S0091. Thank you very much for doing it! I find it hard enough not to get confused when sources get into extensive discussion about a subject's family let alone sort out two politicians from the same state with similar names. If you have some expertise on these fellows can you help with the draft I started on the other one? Or start one fresh. I wasn't sure on a suitable name for the subject and will have trouble filling it out wothout ky head spinning over the overlapping names. Thanks again. And also to User:KylieTastic for helping. This corrected John Robinson bio looks good to me. Maybe change the title to "A John Robinson in Virginia Legislature" since the 2nd John isn't mentioned. This John was not my main interest. :-)

Here's what got me started on "my" John H.:

"ROBINSON, John H.

Born in Gloucester Co., Va., 1857. Taught in Surrey Co., four terms; Prince George Co., one term; Middlesex Co., one term, and Elizabeth City Co., twelve terms. Has taught about four hundred and fifty pupils, about twenty-two of whom have become teachers. He is engaged in Sunday school and temperance work. One who visited his school said : “He has done a good work, and stands high with the people and school officers." In '88 he was elected member of the Virginia Legislature, but continued his school during the winter as usual. He is married, has one child; owns real estate and personal property. Says, "The people seem to be improving." Lives in Hampton, Va.
