A Labour member of parliament?
editShould he really be classed as such? He was a labour MP for 11 years before leaving the party to join the SDP 27 years ago. The amalgamation of the SDP and the Liberals rendered him a Liberal Democrat, which he has remained ever since, during which time he has been chief whip in both the House of Commons and House of Lords and is now a Privy Councillor. Surely this suggests that the SDP/LibDem section of his career has been not just well over twice as long, not just current but markedly more significant than the Labour section? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.78.74.254 (talk) 23:32, 20 March 2008 (UTC)
Rational for changing Stasi ref
editThe accusation linking him to the Stasi is quite significant so It is appropriate that we have more than one reference for this, and although there was they ere all from the same publication (The Guardian) and one was from 'letters to the editor' and although written by a senior academic I am not sure if this would count as a reliable source (WP:RS).
As a result I decided to throw in some irony and use a reference from the CIA, (although in reality it was the first source I found on Google that would count as reliable). However both sources cite the Anthony Glees book and as it seems Glees is the only person to linked Roper with the Stasi I guess were are in fact citing the fact that Glee made the accusation rather than the accusation its self. --wintonian talk 19:43, 14 September 2012 (UTC)
