Wasn't the Dulwich Picture Gallery built in 1817, not 1917? Stagehand (talk) 12:58, 25 September 2010 (UTC)

Personal life

There's very little here about his private life - I visited the museum today and discovered he clearly had a very stormy family life, worthy of a Dickensian drama! It's terribly ironic that he purchased Hogarth's Rakes Progress and displayed it to his teenage sons, only for the younger to become a rake himself and disgrace the family! It's that disgrace we have to thank for the existence of the museum as it is today. Gymnophoria (talk) 23:27, 23 March 2011 (UTC)

Telephone Box

Why dose this article still state that Gilbert Scott fashioned the telephone box on Soane 's tomb? The inspiration came first from George Dance the Younger's gates to the house that Soane bought (long before Soane was dead and had a mausoleum built)! In the adjacent parish, Gilbert Scott went on to design St Mary's Church, Hanwell and there is a marmoreal in the gaveyard that also bears a close resemblance to a midgets telephone box – just like Soane tomb. Can anybody find suitable references on the web of Gilbert Scott stating that his inspiration was from the the gate piers of Pitzhanger Manor The propotions of Slones tomb are nothing like a telephone box. Probably because that's what sources - including the JS Museum - say. As your on post indicates, your have not found sources to support your claim. Andy Mabbett (Pigsonthewing); Talk to Andy; Andy's edits 12:24, 7 December 2019 (UTC)
