"Possible future: It is likely John Vogel will live for a while, and then die somehow." Funny :P - I forsee this getting erased. Tebor 09:02, 17 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Someone here doesn't seem to like Vogel too much... or at least is having fun at his expense.
"Movie and TV appearances: He appeared, rather oddly, as a ghost child/cardboard cutout in the film Three Men and a Baby" "Enemies: Reiko, Johnny Cage"
"Moves: Fight For Your Right To Party"
"Fatalities: John Vogel often will be seen tearing out his own liver and eating it, causing his opponent to do the same. He has only be known to do this once in the MK canon, as he died soon after."
Very funny... :/ Tebor 09:08, 17 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Vandalism

edit

Any edits without the page creator's consent will be considered vandalism and will be reverted immediately. If this page faces continous vandalism, it will be locked. If you strongly feel that the page should be edited, say something here BEFORE you hastily edit someone else's work. Thank you.

I'm afraid it doesn't work that way. Wikipedia is here to be edited by all users and visitors. This isn't YOUR page. I notice you keep deleting my very valid arguments. I've also noticed you've tried twice to protect the page and failed. Grow up. --L T Dangerous 00:15, 22 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Discuss any changes here before you edit the page. I'm sure we can meet an agreement if we discuss the changes you want to make here before you actually make them.

I don't have to since I already made my points and you deleted them (check the History) but here they are anyway: 1) John Vogel is a real person, thus the Mortal Kombat Character template does not apply to him; 2) the picture of Cage sticks out like a sore thumb; 3) my version of the article features more information on the subject matter --L T Dangerous 00:26, 22 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Please leave it alone. What made me mad was that you changed it before saying anything on the discussion page. You changed it then you wrote on this page. I created this page, so please just leave it alone, or say something before you edit it.

    • Discuss before you edit!**

Oh and I had all the games linked to their profiles in Wiki. With your version they are not linked. Please fix that.

Argh! I fixed it since you didn't.

These changes are going to be considered permanent:

  • The Johnny Cage picture will remain.
  • The games in the "Games Credited" section will remain as links.

Discuss Before You Edit

edit

If you feel that something should be changed in this article, tell me on the discussion page first. Don't just heedlessly make changes to someone else's work. That is terribly inconsiderate. Discuss on the discussion page before you edit, okay? —Preceding unsigned comment added by TigerManXL (talkcontribs)

I'm willing to let this lie, but allow me to quote WP:OWN which you were, in fact, told to read by an admin:
You can't stop everyone in the world from editing "your" stuff, once you've posted it to Wikipedia. As each edit page clearly states:
If you don't want your material to be edited mercilessly or redistributed by others, do not submit it.

--L T Dangerous 10:09, 22 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Thanks for letting it lie. Once again, all I ask is that you discuss before you edit. It's just a measure of courtesy. —Preceding unsigned comment added by TigerManXL (talkcontribs)
Just for the record, no, it isn't a measure of courtesy; anyone can edit any article, and the discussion of edits is not required. For disputes, yes, discussion is of the utmost importance, but for regular edits (such as my recent clean-up of various MoS violations and tagging all the unsourced claims, as well as flagging the entire article with {{sources}}), pre-edit discussion isn't required or called for.
Also, please sign your posts. EVula 14:36, 24 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Retcon?

edit

I have read over Johnny Cage's MKDA Beginning and I don't see how it retcons anything. If anything, it's just about a movie that is about Johnny Cage dieing that is slightly satirical about his deaths. It doesn't say anything about Johnny Cage not dieing in MKT and MK4. Use logic people! [1] ---SilentRAGE! 16:35, 26 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

I'm really not sure what to make of that Cage section. I personally was always of the belief that Cage's MKDA bio was, indeed, satirical- after all, he is the comic relief character of the franchise. I left it in from the earlier edits as it's also on the Cage article so, for whatever reason, I accepted it and carried on. That said, it gives us two things that need a citation. I don't want to delete it just in case there's something to be said in its favour but personal opinion says otherwise. Thoughts? --L T Dangerous 17:56, 26 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Get rid of it. It doesn't make sence to begin with. His begining movie says that he refused to be in a movie where he dies alot. How does that retcon his previous deaths in "real life"? It doesn't. ---SilentRAGE! 17:49, 29 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
Since that's the only comment we've had on the issue and no argument has been put forward for keeping it, I'll remove the section --L T Dangerous 16:00, 1 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
Done and done. That leaves us with only two things to find an online citation for, one of which being Vogel's home country. Lovely! --L T Dangerous 16:03, 1 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Do Not Delete

edit

Please don't try to delete this page people; I worked very hard on it. If you feel that sources should be added, feel free to do so, but don't bother us with your complaints. TigerManXL 17:30, 26 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Citations

edit

I added a link to the site quoting Vogel as saying "It was just a stupid joke". I know it may seem a little off relying on a fan site for that kind of information but Kombat Pavilion generally holds up and the webmaster's interviewed Ed Boon at least once so it seems to me they're a reasonably serious fan site (I say reasonably as one of the main attractions is the sprite comics and funny flash videos). All the same, it remains a fan site so perhaps we need to decide whether it's right to use it or not- admittedly, I linked it to back up the quote I'd used. As for the rest, I do remember Vogel saying he didn't like Reiko although I can't remember from where so that's an entirely moot point, so the citation needed will have to stay for now. --L T Dangerous 17:56, 26 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Fair use rationale for Image:Johnvogel9mu2.jpg

edit

Image:Johnvogel9mu2.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
