ODNB info

edit

It looks to me as if the ODNB article fluffs the Taylor family history: it was the son Josiah who died in 1834, the father Isaac having died in 1807. Josiah Taylor was certainly in business at 59 High Holborn. Charles Matthews (talk) 08:16, 7 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

G. H. Andrews

edit

This is definitely George Henry Andrews. There is someone of this name (1816-1898) better known as an artist; mentioned in Bryan's Dictionary 1903.[1] Very likely our man, but really needs confirmation somehow. Charles Matthews (talk) 21:35, 10 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Well, if we are to believe WorldCat here the dates are right, and G. H. Andrews was R.W.S. (i.e. Royal Watercolour Society). I rest my case. Charles Matthews (talk) 21:54, 10 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Another ref: [2], on p. 15. Seems to be notable in his own right: books, works of art, journalism. Charles Matthews (talk) 21:57, 10 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

William Warrington's book

edit

It looks like he did the lithograph prints for Warrington's book "The History of Stained Glass, From The Earliest Period Of The Art To The Present Time, Illustrated By Coloured Examples Of Entire Windows In The Various Styles". Not sure where to put this in the page. PastaBoiler (talk) 19:30, 27 February 2024 (UTC)Reply
