I've rewritten this and merged in John Assheton (MP for Lancashire) - the ODNB and History of Parliament seem to agree these were the same man, and the old DNB entry was a bit wide of the mark in most details. Andrew Gray (talk) 16:36, 20 May 2018 (UTC)
