Disambiguation from other song by same name
editThere is another song titled John the Revelator that is apparently by Rusty Goodman © 1974. This song is the one covered by the group Acappella and several other more recent groups. I am not sure if that should be a seperate page, in the disambiguation page, or how to present that information, but it should be somewhere to avoid confusion, I would think. lyrics copywrited?
editIf those are specifically Blind Willie Johnson's lyrics, I bet they're still copywrited.Alcuin (talk) 02:48, 9 December 2007 (UTC)
I'm reluctant to make the edit without consensus. Would a link to the term JTR for John the Revelator appropriately link to this wiki entry? Thanks for your input. 75.57.160.195 (talk) 16:34, 21 August 2008 (UTC)
References
editIs it really necessary to have numerous references to the Bible explaining the lyrics of the song? It seems basically irrelevant to the article to me. The Mink Ermine Fox (talk) 08:43, 7 December 2009 (UTC)
- Well, the article is about the history and meaning of the song. -- Radagast3 (talk) 20:20, 7 December 2009 (UTC)
That makes sense, I suppose. Might it then make more sense in the body of the article? A section called "Biblical References" or something? The Mink Ermine Fox (talk) 22:16, 9 December 2009 (UTC)
- That could work, but I can't quite visualise what it would look like. I guess the advantage of the present footnotes is that they are less in the way for people who are only interested in the lyrics themselves. -- Radagast3 (talk) 22:36, 9 December 2009 (UTC)
Might I suggest (more than a year after the last contribution to this discussion) that rather than footnote each biblical reference, that key words or phrases be wikilinked to the appropriate articles? If no one objects to this, I'd be happy to do the work. Brendanmccabe (talk) 17:14, 7 January 2011 (UTC)
