editToday, I heard a lecture from him, and he said he was born in Bristol, and only moved to Lancashire later - and attended school there. Anyone have a definitive source for these facts? 86.2.97.253 21:10, 2 May 2007 (UTC)
This is a bit picky, but shouldn't Think... This Way actually be something like Think -> This Way? It was definitely an arrow in the title, I think it's even printed that way in his books when he mentions his TV shows. - 88.109.209.253 (talk) 09:57, 11 January 2008 (UTC)
Climate change edit conflicts
editThere is a conflict here, between me (at my two similar IPs) and 84.246.168.11, over the use of language in the section regarding Mr. Balls speech at the Ince show. The source describes one witness' testifying to "a ten minute rant descending into an incoherent ramble"; the word 'suggesting' is plainly too weak here. Regarding http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientific_opinion_on_climate_change, I think that my choice of language was appropriate, and that the other was inappropriate. 131.111.213.33 (talk) 09:45, 18 December 2009 (UTC)
I'm said other IP :) there is no evidence however that he does not believe that climate change has not ever occured or will occur again, so to use the word deny would be inaccurate unless we can get a statement to that effect. Also the word deny has ad-hominen overtones, if you can think of another phrase or word, that is stronger then by all means use that, i just object to the word deny. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.246.168.11 (talk) 15:21, 18 December 2009 (UTC)
Booed Off Stage
editThis 'fact', though widely reported in UK media, and echoed across climate denial web-sites, is disputed by people who were actually at the show, e.g. [1] and comments on [2] and, more importantly, denied by Johnny himself on camera here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fLMUX6ePRnw 78.86.165.82 (talk) 21:16, 6 March 2011 (UTC)
Actually, Johnny Ball himself admitted in the interview that the frosty reception was more due to the fact that he rambled on for too long and accused some of those present of cooking their books. Groovyspaceman (talk) 03:09, 25 July 2012 (UTC)
Qualifications
editI'm genuinely curious as to his mathematics qualifications - I always assumed, as a kid, that he was a top scientist of some kind like Heinz Wolff or Carl Sagan, but the article gives the impression that he was an entertainer first and (presumably) had no more knowledge of maths than any other man of his generation. Did he go to university? What drew him to maths? Did he write papers in the field? -Ashley Pomeroy (talk) 20:35, 25 June 2010 (UTC)
Went to grammar school, and came out with 2 O-levels. Did he feel ashamed? 2A00:23C5:C102:9E00:2958:4237:A8B9:2E2C (talk) 11:34, 9 February 2020 (UTC)
