Vegetarian?
editThe article states that he eats little red meat, only in the next sentence to say he's a vegetarian. User: Coffee and TV
Not a vegetarian.
In a radio interview on KTCK 1310-AM, he said that the vegetarian label was a rumor that came of his spitting out the steak after the cuts. The reason for his refusal to swallow the steak was because the steak had been repeatedly reheated (noting the low-budget nature of the film). He said that it was a steak that he wouldn't serve to his worst enemy.

someone source the stuff about no milk or meat before I remove it, as on an interview on 93.3 WMMR, when asked about being a vegetarian, his exact words were "the way I ripped apart that steak [in napoleon dynamite] should answer that question", which to me sounds like he isn't a vegetarian in any way.
Name
editIn conversing briefly with members of his Fan Club, I learned that Jon insists on pronouncing his last name as "Grize", which would be spelled in German as "Greis". Gries is a, not unusual German name, and there is even a Griesheim outside Frankfurt. Personally, I have gone through life having my name pronounced as in Greis, which is frustrating, but not enough for me to just give up and 'go with the flow'. I once asked a woman who had just pronounced it Greis - 'why?'. Her immediate retort: "French Fries". That is the best answer I could have imagined - but I'm still not changing it. I guess Jon or his family just threw in the towel at some point. Changing the pronunciation is done constantly, especially for clarity, but if you become a public figure, I would have chosen to revert to the true version. Personal choice.

Appearance in Star Trek
editDidn't Gries appear, as a 9-year-old child actor (his first-ever acting job), alongside William Shatner in an episode of Star Trek in which everyone on a certain planet dies at the age of 30? 173.88.246.138 (talk) 04:11, 9 October 2021 (UTC)
