Some facts and corrections about Goitía
editHello, I have been adding some information about Goitía's career that got reversed. I thought I would list them below in order to discuss if it's appropriate to include them in the article:
- Goitía was born in Moreno, Buenos Aires, not Mariano Moreno, Neuquén. This can be seen at his BDFA profile, which shows "Moreno (BUE)" (BUE meaning Buenos Aires province). His personal Facebook account shows also he is from Moreno, Buenos Aires, though I'm not sure whether this can be considered as valid source.
- He played 28 matches for Sportivo Barracas in 2016 and 2017, as shown in the template. I included that in the Statistics section and I'm not sure why it got reverted. These also appear at BDFA, unfortunately there is no record of the number of matches in each of the two seasons, just the total of both.
- He played 1 game in the senior team of Deportivo Riestra in 2010 (against Centro Español), while he was doing youth career in that club. Universo Fútbol lists him with 1 game in the tournament,[1] this would mean he did not play another game in the season.
- Thanks for your help and sorry if I made any mistakes, I'm not very experienced around here.2800:810:43E:8327:F482:9736:29EB:9AC7 (talk) 15:17, 25 January 2019 (UTC)
Hello, User:2800:810:43E:8327:F482:9736:29EB:9AC7. I assume you are the same editor as User:170.251.220.169? If so, I did contact you via that talk page to explain myself (see: User talk:170.251.220.169) but I guess you didn't see it. I'd recommend creating a username just so it is easier for fellow editors to contact you. Also, no need to apologise! Thank you for opening a section on this talk page so editors can come and discuss - that's the good way to do things!
- For Goitía's place of birth. You say BDFA lists just Moreno (BUE)? According to this, it says Mariano Moreno (BUE). However, on further inspection I noticed Mariano Moreno isn't in Buenos Aires - but in Neuquén. This brings confusion, hard to tell if they've got the wrong Moreno or wrong province; I've seen them do both before. Soccerway also says Mariano Moreno. The Diario El Zonda source does say Moreno, and the article itself does have depth to it so you'd assume they'd know the truth. Facebook definitely isn't a valid source unfortunately. As Wikipedia relies heavily on reliable sources, I suggest it's best to keep Mariano Moreno as more sources back that up. If you can find other sources, like the El Zonda one, then please do share.
- For the Sportivo Barracas statistics: Stats are only to be included in the career statistics table if each season's numbers are known. Question marks/blank seasons aren't good, as with a lot of players (especially those who appear in the lower leagues pre-2010) you could be left with a massive career stats table that has little-to-now statistics - just blank space and/or question marks. (see here) Lastly, one season seasons (e.g. Goitía at Atlas) shouldn't have a total row with it - see the manual of style here. P.S. there isn't a need to pipe Primera D Metropolitana to Primera D.
- For the Deportivo Riestra 2010 appearance: Awesome, that reference confirms that - I will add that back immediately. Nice work.
Again, thanks for reaching the talk page rather than edit warring. Your edits are extremely welcomed, just keep an eye on Wikipedia's guidelines. Thanks a lot for taking the time for the reply, indeed the other IP was myself editing from another computer. The article looks very good, I'll try to find more sources about Goitía's birthplace and also try to get the split by season of his spell at Sportivo Barracas. Thanks again! 2800:810:43E:8327:F482:9736:29EB:9AC7 (talk) 18:23, 25 January 2019 (UTC)
- Cool, hopefully it can be cleared up soon! R96Skinner (talk) 18:42, 25 January 2019 (UTC)
- Well, I found a summary of stats of Sportivo Barracas in 2016 league here. One Copa Argentina match against Vélez Sarsfield should be added on top of those to complete the season. I still can't find a 2016-17 summary, I would guess the number of matches would be the difference between the total at BDFA (28) and 2016 games (14), but not sure about it. 181.47.225.161 (talk) 18:57, 25 January 2019 (UTC)
- Absolutely, I'm more than certain that's fine - that's how I've done it with similar past examples. Excellent find, I will add those back now. R96Skinner (talk) 22:35, 25 January 2019 (UTC)
- Also, while his birth place remains uncertain, I've added a note so its known. R96Skinner (talk) 22:55, 25 January 2019 (UTC)
