Conflict of interest edit request
editPart of an edit requested by an editor with a conflict of interest has been implemented. [see below] |
Hello. There are corrections and updates I am requesting to make to this page. My proposed edits are below. I have a conflict of interest in that I am employed by the National Institutes of Health, where Joni L. Rutter is an employee.
(1.) Summary section:
(1a.) In the opening sentence, propose to update Rutter's position from "acting director" to "director". NIH named Rutter director of NCATS on November 6, 2022 [1]
Joni L. Rutter is an American geneticist and the director of the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS).
(1b.) 2nd sentence: Propose amending the name of the All of Us initiative to the "All of Us" Research Program since this is the official name of the program. [2]
Rutter was previously director of the scientific programs in the All of Us Research Program initiative and served as the neuroscience and behavior division director at the National Institute on Drug Abuse.
(2.) Career section:
(2a.) 2nd paragraph, 1st sentence: Propose capitalizing "Research Program" since this is part of the official name of the program. [3]
Rutter served as the director of scientific programs within the All of Us Research Program, where she led the scientific programmatic development and implementation efforts to build a national research cohort of 1 million or more U.S. participants to advance precision medicine.[4][5]
(2b.) 3rd paragraph, 1st sentence: Propose including the date of Rutter's appointment as deputy director for NCATS in the first sentence. [4]
Rutter joined the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) as the deputy director in early 2019.
(2c.) 3rd paragraph, last sentence: Propose moving the last sentence up to the second sentence and adding Rutter's title and date of selection as NCATS director so that her career path at NIH is cohesive. [5]
Rutter joined the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS) as the deputy director in early 2019. Upon the retirement of NCATS director Christopher P. Austin on April 15, 2021, Rutter became the acting director.[6] On November 8, 2022, NIH announced the selection of Rutter as director of NCATS.
(2d.) 3rd paragraph, 4th sentence: Propose removing. It lists roles that pertained to Rutter's position as deputy director and which are no longer relevant in her current position. [6]
Remove: Rutter helps guide the NCATS' Advisory Council and Cures Acceleration Network Review Board activities, and serves as the center's scientific liaison to All of Us.[4][5]
(3.) Photo: Propose to update the image to the photo used on Rutter's public NIH biography webpage so that it reflects current time. [7]

- Partly done: I hesitate to implement most of these changes since they are solely based on the NIH, which is a non-independent source. Wikipedia should base its articles predominantly on sources that are independent of the subject; virtually the entire article is currently based on non-independent sources. I've added a maintenance tag to address this issue. Throast {{ping}} me! (talk | contribs) 16:37, 26 June 2023 (UTC)
