- remove from Category:British architects. Architecture is not what Holland is known for. Also, unless he uses a different name, he's not a member of RIBA and not registered with the ARB. In the UK it is not legal to describe yourself as an architect if you are not a member of a professional body. -- Solipsist 09:17, 17 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- Following Pigsonthewing additions to the article about Holland's interest in architecture, helping to design a studio complex does not equate to being an architect. The best reference I can find to Holland helping to design his studio complex at 115/117 Humber Road, SE3, is on page 6 of this pdf newsletter which describes Holland as an 'enthusiastic amateur architect'. Even then the studio is a copy of a Clough Williams-Ellis design, and I doubt that Holland was the registered architect for the project. There are many other more relevant people who should be in Category:British architects before Holland, and most of them, such as Clough Williams-Ellis, don't even have articles yet. -- Solipsist 16:46, 18 Aug 2004 (UTC)
- Christopher Wren was not a member of RIBA; the category is neither "RIBA members" nor "Professional architects"; Wikipedia is not subject to the laws governing professional architects in the UK; and Holland's work as such has been well documented, not elast on television. If there are many others who shoudl be in the category, you can add them, and if they have no articles, write them.Andy Mabbett 17:05, 18 Aug 2004 (UTC)

Mockney
editJools as a Mockney
I added Jools as a mockney -- heres my evidence, and his 80's early 90's spoken style was consistently MOCKNEY -- eres jools holland doin the ole mockney chat --
http://kr.youtube.com/watch?v=Z9RL7JJQDzE
A mockney is someone who is middle, or from upper middle class roots, as Jools certainly is, who assumes a cockney accent -- here is more footage. He was a mockney -- http://kr.youtube.com/watch?v=hqqjy3Mnn8Q see from the circa 2.00 minute mark.

- "middle class" roots - Not sure about that having read his autobiography, broken family, moving from one rented house to another after not paying rent, smoking at 7 or 8 , lots of other stuff in their, but none to suggest a comfy middle class background --C Hawke (talk) 15:20, 17 September 2008 (UTC)
- Well, you should read the memoirs of his fellow Squeeze musicians then -- I will find and post the link later, which makes it clear, that they were very suprised, given his public persona ( mockney accent ) to meet his upper middle class parents, whom they likened to Terry Thomas so refined was their accent. I will post the link later. Anyway -- his accent as shown by those youtube vids -- is classic phony mockney. Do you need any more examples? If so here you go --
- And there are loads more. That accent is not a real London working class accent -- it is MOCKNEY. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 125.138.57.171 (talk) 15:54, 17 September 2008 (UTC)
- It seems that you are basing this claim - like your other multiple ones of the same sort - on nothing more than your own interpretation of what you think the subject in question talks like, and whatever Holland's parents' accents are or were is neither here nor there. As CHawke notes, there are plenty of factors in Holland's life - as there are in many people's - which might explain why they don't talk like their parents, and unless there is properly citable evidence of deliberate affection, your claims cannot be added to this (or any other) page. Nick Cooper (talk) 16:35, 17 September 2008 (UTC)
- If you are basing the claim on what his parents sound like then you may want to read his autobiog at some point as it is clear that he spent large amounts of his childhood with either his grandparents or just hanging around - he describes being left to his own devices and mixing with all sorts of people in his early years.--C Hawke (talk) 16:52, 17 September 2008 (UTC)
- You need a source for the statement - anything else is original research (WP:OR) -- Ian Dalziel (talk) 17:25, 17 September 2008 (UTC)
- Given the fact that Squeeze got together when he was in his late teens and the fact mentioned above of the suprise of his band mates when meeting his parents, this would indicate that any accent and behavious was established by this time, not at a later date in his adulthood.--C Hawke (talk) 18:25, 17 September 2008 (UTC)
- Indeed. This particular anonymous IP seems to have a "thing" about what s/he claims are the "Mockney" accents of various people, but with virtually no justification beyond claiming that they have one. Nick Cooper (talk) 07:08, 18 September 2008 (UTC)
PHOTO!
editAfter all the bizillion performances that Jools Holland has made, the careers he's helped launch over so many years on his late night programme, there MUST be a better photo of Holland perhaps introducing a band, or from a fan behind the scenes? Maybe on Flickr? I was astounded that his page was only barely more than a stub. I also concur with the need for a rewrite-- (fortunately there is so little here that a lot can just be surgically removed with some delicacy!) --leahtwosaints (talk) 18:58, 21 December 2008 (UTC)
- +1 there must be a better pic; this is ugly and hiding instead of documenting; cannot e.g. the german wikipedia pic be used?

Personal - four children
editHis website mentions them - they merit a mention here, too. http://www.joolsholland.com/aboutjools.htm Maybe somebody in the UK will know something about them, i.e., mother(s), ages. 24.128.188.152 (talk) 00:02, 2 April 2010 (UTC)
Cooling Castle
editI have removed the inaccurate reference to Cooling Castle - about his ownership and that he lives there. This request has come directly from Jools Holland. —Preceding unsigned comment added by JABEYE (talk • contribs) 16:32, 11 August 2010 (UTC)
- Seems a strange thing to want removed. Valid reference from a respected reliable source, which includes comment from Jools himself. -- EdJogg (talk) 00:21, 12 August 2010 (UTC)
Night Music
editJools Holland was the co-host of the American TV program "Night Music" from 1988 to 1990. See Sunday Night (American TV program). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.18.238.170 (talk) 20:26, 2 December 2011 (UTC)
