Bronze medal

edit

According to the Associated Press: It's unclear whether Chiles will be forced to return her medal. The federation, known as FIG, said while it has restored the initial order of finish — with Barbosu third, Romanian teammate Sabrina Maneca-Voinea fourth and Chiles fifth — the organization added that the allocation of medals was up to the International Olympic Committee. Until such point that the IOC reallocates the bronze medal, I don't see a basis to remove it from this article. Some discussion about the underlying situation would be helpful to give readers context, however. Aoi (青い) (talk) 20:48, 10 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Agreed. We can definitely add that her bronze medal is being contested, but unless/until the IOC decides to strip her of her medal, it should remain on the page. JDDJS (talk to mesee what I've done) 20:58, 10 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
K. Added NPOV verbiage on it and a RS under 2024 results.
Thank you for that. Aoi (青い) (talk) 21:26, 10 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
MSNBC is reporting, though I don't have time to track down a URL, in the Romanian appeal, a request was made both Chiles and Bărbosu both be awarded the Bronze medal. The International Olympic Committee did not agree (as noted in the following paragraph of the article), though the prose could make it more clear. Symmerhill (a.k.a. FYI. The BBC is now reporting that: The International Olympic Committee said it will reallocate the bronze medal to Barbosu and is in touch with the US team regarding the return of the medal and the Romanian Olympic Committee to discuss the reallocation ceremony.. Bărbosu has received the bronze medal already. We can add a sentence closing this process. RS have reported so. Here's AP.2601:19E:427E:5BB0:BF12:3C8E:61C1:2BAF (talk) 22:05, 16 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
