Air Jordan

edit

I suggest we remove this as it is no more Jordans than the Jordan nation is. Thanks, SqueakBox 15:24, 29 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

It was added because of the sheer number of people who keep adding it to Jordans. -- Roleplayer (talk) 17:13, 29 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
See Jordan (disambiguation) re Air Jordan, which has no more place in this page than Michael Jordan or Jordan does. Thanks, SqueakBox 16:32, 30 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
Well there's nothing against having a "see also" on a disambig page to other similar terms, particularly for Jordan instead of Jordans. -- Roleplayer (talk) 16:35, 30 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
Done. Thanks, SqueakBox
Who the hell says I once visited Jordans? What is your problem? MickMacNee (talk) 16:38, 30 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
Nobody on this discussion page has ever said anything about you. Why are you being so aggressive? -- Roleplayer (talk) 16:41, 30 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
The comment is directed at Squeakbox who is the only person so far who thinks Jordans should point to the village article. I say again, who ever refers to the country Jordan as Jordans? MickMacNee (talk) —Preceding comment was added at 16:45, 30 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
Stop pretending that Air Jordan is Air Jordans because that is being deliberately dishonest and will not be tolerated again. I suggest you give the requested moves at least a week and do not delete the Jordans article in your hurry to get your own way again. You need to give a reason for your move and so far neither you nor your supporter have attempted to do so, this kind of dishonest behaviour re Air Jordan is not an argument that will be taken seriously here. Thanks, SqueakBox 19:36, 30 December 2007 (UTC)Reply
And, I never said you visited Jordans. Why do you think that i said that, or that i woulod care wone way or the other. Thanks, SqueakBox 19:38, 30 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

It's Jordans, as in Nikes or trainers, plural. Please provide some evidence for you assertion as to why Jordans the village is the common usage MickMacNee (talk) 20:07, 30 December 2007 (UTC)Reply

Err, its the only article called Jordans. the other articles are called Jordans Bristol and Air Jordan. If anyone wants those articles and types in Jordans they can then go the disambig page, which you would have done better to fix in the beginning as fixing the encyclopedia is always a better strategy than not doing so but just complaining. Butt he issue is now fixed, end of story, please can we get ona nad do soemthing else, as the lack of the otheruses links to Jordans and Jordan disambig pages illustrate, there is masses of useful things to be done here. The village

edit

We only ever use the county when there are 2 places of the same name. Stop editing to try and prove a point. Thanks, SqueakBox 03:10, 9 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

As already pointed out by another editor, Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style_(disambiguation_pages)#Piping MickMacNee (talk) 03:22, 9 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
edit conflict Please see MOS:DAB#Piping, MOS:DAB#Places, & WP:DAB, which point to not piping the disambiguation links, even for places, since the point of the dab page is to remove ambiguity. My view is that Jordans should be the name of the article on the village with a couple of dablinks at the top of the article. This dab page seems rather pointless. --SSBohio 03:24, 9 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

It's clear that at least the cereal bar and the athletic shoes are also known as Jordans. Would harm come from including each of the others as a disambiguation link at the head of the page for Jordans, Bucks? I'm not saying that that's necessarily the most common use of the word Jordans, but, to my mind, it's what I'd expect to find in a dictionary when I looked up Jordans. --SSBohio 03:59, 9 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
I can't find 'Jordans' plural in any dictionary. Jordans does not appear in the online version of Brittanica either. And I've just realised the Bristol company is correctly titled Jordans Ltd. as well, I shall rename it now. MickMacNee (talk) 05:21, 9 January 2008 (UTC)Reply
