editI just read this article and still have no clue what the effects or goals of his social activism are. What's this guy about?
El Sistema
editHmm
editAbreu is best known for el sistema, and I think that needs to be reflected in the intro of the article. I also the sistema should have it's own Wikipedia page. There certainly has been enough media coverage. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 140.247.42.55 (talk) 16:12, 28 October 2007 (UTC)
- Didn't notice the above until after i finished my work. There was more about it in the accompanying article before i started than now. (And sorry, i forgot the lk when i moved most of that to El Sistema.) The lead-graph change sounds like a good idea, but i'd like to see Google tests to support it. (Even tho my guess is that it's likely to justify moving "activist" to head of list of his fields, and to add "amateur musician to it as well.)

Fair use rationale for Image:Abreu 1.jpg
editImage:Abreu 1.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Awards
editI am afraid Mr Abreu was not the first latinamerican to be honoured with the Royal Philharmonic Society. Claudio Arrau was first, in 1988. Also, the Principe de Asturias prize was to the Sistema de Orquesta Juvenil e Infantil de Venezuela, not directly to Mr Abreu, so I will delete it. Thank you. --Karljoos (talk) 11:21, 1 July 2009 (UTC)

Alma mater?
editThe infobox gives Abreu's alma mater as 'University of Michigan' – but there is no mention of him studying there in the main text. Is this another error (like the phantom PhD the article mentions) or is there some detail missing from his educational history? JezGrove (talk) 09:58, 26 March 2018 (UTC)
- According to this article by the University of Michigan announcing their awarding him an honorary degree, he "took some graduate classes" there, but they cite his alma mater as Universidad Católica Andres Bello. I'll update the text accordingly. — Sasuke Sarutobi (talk) 10:04, 26 March 2018 (UTC)
- Thanks for your quick reply Sasuke Sarutobi! Best wishes, JezGrove (talk) 10:23, 26 March 2018 (UTC)
