Article expansion thoughts

edit

Here are a couple of ideas to explore for this biography - to discover what made him notable or interesting - or what made his works notable or interesting - if desired:

  • Is there information about his parents and childhood that you can find in WP:Reliable sources, such as books?
  • Where did he go to school?
  • Did he have a particular artist interest or aptitude?
  • Did he exhibit or win any awards?
  • What are some of his notable works? Where are they located?
  • Was he inspired by a particular artist?
  • Did he inspire others?
  • Was he interested in a particular artistic movement?
  • What was his legacy? What did people remember about him or his works that was notable?
  • How did his French background and schooling influence the artwork at the school? And/or, how was his work influenced by Vietnamese art?

Here are some specific ones based upon the content of the article so far:

  • He was a "teacher at the École des Beaux-Arts de l'Indochine (EBAI) in Hanoi 1926-1945." - What brought him to Vietnam and Hanoi to teach? What drew him to the area?
  • "His teaching was appreciated for being less academic than the director Victor Tardieu." - What does that mean? What did he provide to his students in terms of inspiration or skill that might have been different than Tardieu?
  • "He shared with Tardieu a keen interest in Vietnam's culture." - What were those interests?
  • "Inguimberty encouraged his students to experiment with lacquer as a fine art painting medium." What was the result of the experimentation? Was it that the students created fine laquered works? Or, was there a particular technique? Did the work represent something new in laquer works?

Fortunately, there seems to be a fair amount written about Joseph Inguimberty, so if you want to expand the article, you'll likely be able to find some interesting information.--CaroleHenson (talk) 11:44, 12 September 2012 (UTC)Reply

By the way, I added these questions - not as a "to do" list - but just as a way of kicking off some ideas about what could be added to the article - if you'd like to add any more content.--CaroleHenson (talk) 11:52, 12 September 2012 (UTC)Reply
