Josh Allen (linebacker) → Josh Allen (defensive end) – He's played as a DE for two years now on the Jaguars, went to the Pro Bowl as a DE, is listed as a DE on their website, and on Wikipedia. The only spot he's still a linebacker is in the article name. DragonFury (talk) 15:01, 5 June 2021 (UTC)
- Shouldn't it be "defensive" (lowercase) rather than "Defensive"? — BarrelProof (talk) 17:03, 5 June 2021 (UTC)
- It should, I mistyped. DragonFury (talk) 18:17, 5 June 2021 (UTC)
- Support move to Josh Allen (defensive end) per nom.--Ortizesp (talk) 19:33, 5 June 2021 (UTC)
- I moved the article to the suggested new title as per consensus. Now how do I close this requested move? DragonFury (talk) 08:37, 9 June 2021 (UTC)
Position
editVarious sources describe him as a WLB or OLB, and many say "DE/OLD" -- including his Jags profile page. The Jaguars' own depth chart lists him at OLD (though it's pretty confused, as it assumes a 3-4 base defence with players designated OLB, MIKE, WILL and OLB -- huh? Obviously he also often plays on the line, in a 4-3 or other formation. Edge rusher is probably the most accurate term, but it seems to be used much less often, so hard to argue for it be used prominently here. 109.255.211.6 (talk) 15:25, 11 November 2021 (UTC)

Josh Allen (outside linebacker) → Josh Allen (linebacker) – unnecessary disambiguation Joeykai (talk) 02:01, 20 October 2023 (UTC)
- Support per Preston Smith (linebacker) and C. J. Mosley (linebacker). However, per this discussion, are we sure he's not a defensive end? Looks like Pro Football Reference has him as a linebacker though. Esolo5002 (talk) 03:27, 20 October 2023 (UTC)
- Support less is more. As for DE versus LB: On the field he mostly lines up as a DE, but both Jaguars.com and NFL.com list him as an LB, and he does play as an LB a lot more than a regular DE. I say we stick to what the official sources say: Linebacker. DragonFury (talk) 04:11, 20 October 2023 (UTC)
- Support Some of us have been removing 'outside' and 'middle' for linebacker positions in their articles anyway, per Template:Infobox NFL biography#Parameters and instructions. PFR actually has him listed as EDGE. Literally four seasons at LB and one at DE. Linebacker sounds good. - Bringingthewood (talk) 04:21, 20 October 2023 (UTC)
