Spelling
editReading through one of my sources, I was confused as to why this Wikipedia article spelled Soldevila's name differently. Looking through other sources, it seems like this spelling "Soldevilla" is a typo. Going by Google Scholar results "Juan Soldevila y Romero" gets 73 results;[1] while "Juan Soldevilla y Romero" gets only 21.[2] Sorting by date makes it even more clear, as in works written by the man himself, he signed his name as "Juan Soldevila y Romero".[3] It seems like the earliest case of the misspelling "Soldevilla" comes from a New York Times article reporting his death,[4] but in scholarly sources it doesn't get picked up until 1967.[5] Additionally, of the 21 hits for "Soldevilla", 16 of them come from after this article was published in 2008, so there may be some citogenesis going on.[6]
With all this in mind, I have moved the article to "Juan Soldevila y Romero" and rewritten the article to reflect the correct spelling. Feel free to ping me if you have any queries. --Grnrchst (talk) 09:57, 16 November 2024 (UTC)
