New reference sources
editNew reference source
editI have recently come across a new reference source on "Google Books" (http://books.google.com/) that includes some information about the early development & testing of the Autogiro. An article by an English pilot, Captain Frank T Courtnay, in a 1931 issue of Popular Science magazine includes a description of his experience working for Juan de la Cierva as test pilot for early versions of his autogiro for a period of 18 months from the autumn of 1925. When I have time I will endevour to update this article (and / or the main Wikipedia Autogyro Article) at some point in the near future to include the relevant content (unless someone else manages to do this in the meantime). The article can be viewed on Google Books at: http://books.google.com/books?id=CigDAAAAMBAJ&lpg=PA20&dq=Popular%20Mechanics%201931%20Frank%20T.%20Courtney&pg=PA21#v=onepage&q&f=false --Treagle (talk) 13:54, 14 January 2011 (UTC)
There seems to be some confusion on the gyrodyne mentioned under "Legacy". Cannot find details on the c.38. Was this in fact Bennet's c.41 gyrodyne design that was tendered to the navy?
