Lead is biased - if it mentions Israel, should mention Palestine, not West Bank

edit

The Judaean desert has been nominated by UNESCO as one of the environmental world heritages sites of the State of Palestine. It lies in both the State of Palestine and the the State of Israel. Therefore, I believe the first sentence should say that – that it lies in the State of Palestine and in the State of Israel. I can't see how anyone could contest it without some explainable bias, but three times already the world "Palestine" has been reverted back to "West Bank". Would anyone oppose changing West Bank to Palestine in order to keep the parallelism in {country A and country B} instead of {region A and country B}? I don't disagree with you in principle, not least because UNESCO has no problem with saying State of Palestine. Both descriptions (WB, SoP) are correct. Various drivebys like to do this sort of thing but just because they do, doesn't mean you should join in, try and be the adult in the room. I'm glad you have started this discussion, that's a better way to proceed than repeating something that is being reverted by two editors. If you are one, it is difficult to win the argument so better to initiate a discussion like this. Also, at the end of the day it is not a hill worth dying on and you can also consider just leaving it and move on to something more productive. Selfstudier (talk) 09:32, 2 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
I disagree. The extent of the West Bank is a better descriptor of the circumference of that part of the desert, and should thus be used. It is not necessary to balance every mention of Israel with a mention of Palestine, or vice versa. Leave the interminable political dick-measuring contest between these nationalities at the door when dealing with non-political topics. --Elmidae (talk · contribs) 12:57, 2 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
The point of the article is not to decide who the west bank belongs to rather to say where this desert is located. By writting the west bank it has not needeed to enter that discussion.
I can say from my veiwpoint I have no problem with the current version as it is unbaised.
Regarding "Under the name El-Bariyah, it has been nominated to the Tentative List of World Heritage Sites in the State of Palestine" it is irrelevant if anyone has a problem with that because it`s simply a quotation of the UNESCO. גוי אחד בארץ (talk) 00:30, 11 September 2023 (UTC)Reply

Order of arabic and hebrew names

edit

The order of its names was changed see here.

"Corrected the official and most common Arabic name which is also used in Arabic wiki. And also rearranged Arabic then Hebrew since most of it lie in the West Bank and to be respective to the order of the article where it says "is a desert in the West Bank and Israel"

I think this edit should be undone because the english name of the desert (and the article) is based on it`s hebrew name so it would be logical to start by explaining the source for its recognised name before descusing it`s other names. גוי אחד בארץ (talk) 00:15, 11 September 2023 (UTC)Reply
