Soldiers that served in World War II, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, Operations Desert Shield, and Desert Storm were shipped out from this army base area/location. The base closed in 1999. and became Judge John Sutter Regional Shoreline. This location was where many soldiers spent their last days...hours on American soil...before being deployed to war....and did not come back home. In honor of these soldiers is there a memorial or reconition for their ultimate sacrifice...and their last at home hours were spent here on this spot.
