I have visited http://www.mam.org/index.htm They had a very nice painting by Jules Bastien-Lepage that was not listed on wikipedia.

The Wood Gatherer, 1881. Oil on canvas. http://www.mam.org/collections/19thcentury_detail_lepage.htm

The painting is approx 6 feet high by almost 5 feet wide. The links do not do justice to the extreme detail of this painters work.

Influence

edit

It is generally accepted that Bastien-Lepage was a major influence on the artists known as the Glasgow Boys (not all actually from Glasgow) and other British painters of the later 19th century. I don't have the time or expertise to write this up, but someone might take it on. There are several books on the Glasgow Boys, including the catalogue of a major exhibition a few years ago, which included works by B-L to show the influence.86.135.4.21 (talk) 21:37, 8 September 2014 (UTC)Reply
