Merger proposal
edit- Moved from Talk:Julianne Regan#Merger proposal and Talk:Jean-Marc Lederman#Merger proposal to centralise debate. Andy Dingley (talk) 11:22, 20 October 2010 (UTC)
I think any relevant content at Jules_et_Jim_(band) should be merged into [ Julianne Regan and Jean-Marc Lederman ], and that page should subsequently be deleted. There are so few sources for Jules et Jim on it's own, however the connection to Julianne Regan means that the information should still be on Wikipedia. -Addionne (talk) 18:35, 19 October 2010 (UTC)
- I'm unconvinced by this merger proposal. As the nominator points out, J&J is a tiny article that struggles to justify its existence. I'd like to expand it to also note the unreleased 2009 album, but that would have to be done from WP:SPS, so that's likely to be reverted.
- The trouble with a merger is where to merge it to? This is a very even-handed collaboration between two notable musicians of comparable standing. It would be unjustified to merge it to one, but not the other. So should we merge-away an article because it's too minor, only to end up duplicating it?
- Whilst recognising the nom's concerns with this article, I can't see any obvious change that would make things better in practice. For this reason I suggest leaving the article stand-alone as is. It's not great and I'd welcome anyone's improvements, but as a collaboration of two notable artists with actual released product, it does meet our notability guidelines. - Keep. As above, where to merge? Also J&J are still an ongoing band, albeit infrequent. I do think more information could be added - specifically Regan's & Lederman's collaborations on videogame soundtracks (Regan's done at least three vocals for Lederman's scores), and the new Lederman project La Femme Verte, to which Regan has contributed five vocal tracks. Maybe a rename to reflect these ... Regan and Lederman collaborations ? The Yeti (talk) 16:35, 30 October 2010 (UTC)
- I like this idea of Regan and Lederman collaborations (or similar). There's more to this than just J+J and this could best be covered by a single article, rather than multiples. It would also address the issue of J+J being too minor on its own. Andy Dingley (talk) 23:13, 30 October 2010 (UTC)
- Done ! (At least for now) Tidied up & expanded, added the collaborations. The Yeti (talk) 05:33, 3 January 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks for that. Any thoughts on whether a rename would be helpful? Andy Dingley (talk) 15:13, 3 January 2011 (UTC)
