Speedy deletion removed
editSpeedy deletion criterion was "copyright infringement of https://www.wku.edu/ste/staff/julia_roberts". As an academic holding a named chair, the subject clearly meets WP:NACADEMIC #C5. Staff websites are often used as sources for academics. It is not necessary to copy the text exactly, however (and some of it is irrelevant to an encyclopaedia entry). The article was only just created, and can be edited by others, including having other references added. RebeccaGreen (talk) 04:34, 3 March 2019 (UTC)
- I've removed the remaining copyrighted text, apart from that which can't be re-worded. Yes, she's a notable academic, but that's got nothing to do with the copyright problem. Wikipedia is legally bound to remove all copyrighted content, and university websites aren't exempt from copyright law. Flapjacktastic (talk) 05:02, 3 March 2019 (UTC)
- You also removed text which I added, sourced to a reference I added. Also, how is it not allowable to give her educational attainments, attributing them to the university website? I reworded part of that too, but you have removed it all. RebeccaGreen (talk) 10:07, 3 March 2019 (UTC)
- Addition of references doesn't alter the fact that the text being referenced was copied in a breach of copyright. We can quote small amounts of text, but not freely copy whole pages, unless explicit permission has been given by the copyright owmer, or unless it's been published under a license compatible with the Creative Commons License. - No, everything I removed was a verbatim paste of her profile page at WKU, because it was a blatant infringement of copyright even after you changed a few words and added a few references. You can see this for yourself in the article's edit history. Flapjacktastic (talk) 14:08, 3 March 2019 (UTC)
