copy/pasted text
editJust a minor note, in case anybody notices that there's passages of text in this article, that match those in the official web site, it seems some of the text from this page (which I wrote) was copy/pasted (then edited) onto the official site (which is ok). I'm mentioning this, so nobody thinks there's a copyright problem. --Rob 06:44, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
Photo needed?
editAnother editor added a request for a photo. Remember that fair-use photos are not valid for the general photo in a biography; the photo will need to be under GFDL, in the public domain, or otherwise freely usable. —C.Fred (talk) 22:28, 24 February 2007 (UTC)
Your correct. I should mention, I (mistakenly) had added a photo in the original article. That was deleted per policy. I e-mailed a request for a photo to Dubela, and haven't heard back in a long time (which I take as a no). So, we should simply forget about having a picture for this article. {{Photo requested}} should really just be used when there is a reasonable possibility of having a photo. Otherwise, the category is clogged with lost causes. --Rob 01:09, 25 February 2007 (UTC)- I've now actually got permission from her to use an image she sent. I'm awaiting on a reply to a request to clarify the permission, to ensure it's sufficient. Unfortunately, explaining Wikipedia's policy on this, is rather difficult and cumbersome. --Rob (talk) 07:52, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
- We now have a public domain photo, taken by the Julie's mother. --Rob (talk) 20:55, 13 February 2008 (UTC)
American Idol audition
editI've got no problems with the American Idol audition being mentioned in the article. I do have problems with the analysis, e.g. her being angry or arguing vehemently, without that being backed up. Unless a secondary source (newspaper, magazine, reliable web site) has said it, I don't see how it can be included in the article, especially given the biographies of living persons guidelines. —C.Fred (talk) 02:30, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
- You're quite right to remove what you did. I'd go further, and not mention American Idol at all, unless/until it's written about, and there's a cite. I'ld like to see every sentence having a cite. She's probably been on TV dozens of other times, not mentioned, if you consider all the events she sings at. But we should probably should avoid mentioning all such cases that aren't written about, even though they're not disputed factually. Somebody in the future, will find print sources easier to verify, than looking up an episode of a TV show. --Rob (talk) 04:18, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
NNPOV disputes about Ms Bubela's reaction to her audition comments aside, it appears Thivierr wishes to have any mention of her appearance permanently excised. This is someone who rates an encyclopedic article here and yet their one and only internationally-broadcast TV appearance is not to be mentioned at all? Absurd. This righteous cant about how "every sentence should have a cite" is proposed not out of concern for the integrity of Wikipedia but from subject bias Plutonium27 (talk) 22:38, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
- Don't be silly. I'm fine with content favorable and unforable about AI and other things appearing, provided there are cites. Incedently, there now seems to be ample sources available (there wasn't when I first made my comments). I removed stuff favorable and unfavorable, due to sourcing. Wikipedia is not a place for original research, so seeking sources is quite reasonable. BTW, this isn't her first internationally broadcast TV appearance. People sometimes get in a mad rush when they see something on TV. They think they have to update articles within 5 minutes of the TV show airing, to provide all the details to the readers about what they just saw. People forget this is not a tabloid, but an encyclopedia. Waiting a day or two, for some written sources, and some independent coverage, is very reasonable, and a very minimal expectation. Also, who is this "Ms Bubela[sic]" you speak of. --Rob (talk) 01:51, 2 February 2008 (UTC)
What place did she make on American Juniors?
editI came to this site because I wanted details on how she progressed in American Juniors. What songs did she sing on there, per week? I know she said on AI that she made the top 20 ... but were there "places"? Was she part of group 1 or group 2 (as per the old AI format)? I never watched the show so if anyone can provide insight that would be great. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.216.27.220 (talk) 17:16, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
- If any article would have that level of detail, it would be the American Juniors article. However, they don't. I'm guessing there aren't any secondary sources to hit that have that level of detail. —C.Fred (talk) 17:42, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
- If you're real curious, see this old version. --Rob (talk) 18:00, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
Notability
editBy what source is Julie Dubela described as "well-known" in the Boston area? Coverage from the Exeter Newsletter doesn't mean that people know her. [removed per BLP]? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.93.144.30 (talk • contribs)
- I've improved the wording. It's now saying that Boston is where she is most well known, not that she is "well known" (absolute). I'll put back the old wording if/when I find the sources. Also, you're welcome to contribute comments and edits. But, please try to be more constructive. Vandalism will be reverted, and if repeated, will result in blocks. About the only people seeing such vandalism are you and the editor who reverts it, moments later. --Rob (talk) 02:38, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
I think it's time to reconsider Miss Dubela's notability . . . after all this time, the meat of the article is still human interest puff pieces from a couple of local newspapers. With all due respect to her, i don't think that cuts the mustard. I've added the non-notable template to the top of this article; please improve or delete. Innocent76 (talk) 16:47, 13 August 2011 (UTC)
- Not notable at all. Not even locally in the area... 24.128.135.162 (talk) 22:55, 27 December 2011 (UTC)
