editI've never heard of Julie Taymore (the 19th Century artist...or perhaps art patron?) who is stubbed here. This, of course, doesn't indicate at all that she didn't exist...but it does make me curious. Does anyone know if Taymore existed, or was this a random gibberish? Jwrosenzweig 23:36, 4 Aug 2003 (UTC)
- Just placing another note on the off-chance it will catch someone's attention on recent changes or if they happen to have watchlisted this page. I never have found anything about this 19th Cen. figure, and in the absence of any corroborating evidence save an anonymous editor, I'm hesitant to let it keep sitting here. Anyone know if this is a real person, or just some bizarre spoof entry? Jwrosenzweig 23:12, 24 Sep 2004 (UTC)
- If another year passes, I'm deleting it. :-) Jwrosenzweig 00:39, 22 July 2005 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:Lion king large.jpg
editImage:Lion king large.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
NPOV
editThis article seems to be written from a non-neutral point of view that is strongly promotional of the subject. Here are two sections in particular that need attention:
- On March 9, 2011, it was reported by The New York Times that Taymor would be leaving her role as director of "Spider-Man" after disputes with the show's producers, who wanted to drastically alter the existing storyline and general artistic direction.[9]'
The framing of the sentence implies strongly that the dispute is the fault of the producers
- In a March 14, 2011 piece by Roger Friedman, it was reported that Taymor will receive her original Spider-Man credits, with sources saying that Spider-Man producer Michael Cohl and Bono did bring in a script doctor, music supervisor and other new members for the creative team.[10]. As of June 2, 2011, Laura Penn, the executive director of the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society, confirmed rumors of the ongoing dispute between Taymor and the show's producers about director’s fees that Taymor has not received from the production [11].
Again, the disputes are framed from Taylor's perspective. Though there is mention of the controversy surrounding this director's work in recent years, the "other side" of the controversy is not represented here at all. Voila-pourquoi (talk) 21:24, 22 August 2011 (UTC)
Unmarried
editI don't believe Taymor and Goldenthal have ever married. --TEHodson 08:14, 1 November 2011 (UTC)
- Every interview or bio I see refers to them as an unmarried couple. She says in 2007 that they've been "happily unmarried" for 20 years."--TEHodson 08:18, 1 November 2011 (UTC)
Career
editIn 2006, Julie Taymor was invited to serve as a mentor for the Rolex Mentor and Protégé Arts Initiative, an international philanthropic programme that pairs masters in their disciplines with emerging talents for a year of one-to-one creative exchange. Out of a very gifted field of candidates, Taymor chose young British director Selina Cartmell as her protégée.[1] RMP2014 (talk) 14:38, 10 March 2014 (UTC)

Zauberflöte redux?
editPreface: I'm that guy.
Two non-consecutive paragraphs discussing the Taymor Zauberflöte productions at the Met were ocmpletely necessary? I'm not sure I want to trigger a flame war by condensing the two into one myself, but the second mention seems to be rehashing much of the same material covered in the first.
