On 4 September 2013, it was proposed that this article be moved from Junaid Khan (actor and singer). The result of the discussion was page moved. |
Article name
editJunaid Khan isn't an artist. He doesn't paint, make sculpture etc. The article should be properly called after something Khan is known for - either "Junaid Khan (actor)" or "Juniad Khan (singer)" or maybe "Junaid Khan (entertainer)"? Sionk (talk) 00:55, 13 December 2012 (UTC)
This article has been bouncing all over the place:
- 21:26, 9 December 2012 Captain Assassin! moved page Talk:Junaid Khan (singer) to Talk:Junaid Khan (actor): now known as actor) (undo | thank)
- 19:01, 12 December 2012 Katya bost23 moved page Talk:Junaid Khan (actor) to Talk:Junaid Khan (artist): The artist is about a person who is a well-known singer as well as an actor recently. So more proper will be called an artist.)
- 01:08, 13 December 2012 Sionk moved page Talk:Junaid Khan (artist) to Talk:Junaid Khan (actor) over redirect: Khan isn't an artist, he's a singer-songwriter and actor)
- 02:34, 20 March 2013 Mar4d moved page Talk:Junaid Khan (actor) to Talk:Junaid Khan (actor and singer): He's a singer too)
- 23:42, 3 September 2013 STATicVerseatide moved page Talk:Junaid Khan (actor and singer) to Talk:Junaid Khan (entertainer): Rather than have two dabs, entertainer covers both of them)
- 23:43, 3 September 2013 In ictu oculi moved page Talk:Junaid Khan (entertainer) to Talk:Junaid Khan (actor and singer) over redirect: revert move per WP:BRD, needs to go RM)

The result of the move request was: moved to Junaid Khan (singer). —Darkwind (talk) 02:24, 29 September 2013 (UTC)
Junaid Khan (actor and singer) → Junaid Khan (entertainer) – I'm generally opposed to the neologistic (entertainer) disambiguator, but I don't want to ban it altogether. If someone is notable in equal measures as an actor and a singer, he or she is an entertainer, and that's probably as precise as we can get with one word (per WP:D, disambiguators should be precise and non-unique). I'm not familiar with this person, but he appears to be equally notable as a singer and an actor. I wouldn't oppose Junaid Khan (singer) or Junaid Khan (actor) if either one of those aspects is demonstrated to be primary, however.
Speaking of primacy, is there really a WP:PRIMARYTOPIC between this guy and the cricketer Junaid Khan? A disambiguation page there doesn't violate WP:TWODABS if there's no primary topic. --Relisted. -- tariqabjotu 02:44, 19 September 2013 (UTC) --BDD (talk) 21:28, 4 September 2013 (UTC)
- Oppose (entertainer) support 1. (singer), 2 (actor) 3. (singer and actor) 4. (actor and singer) in that order. "singer Junaid Khan" = 13,900 in plain Google, "actor Junaid Khan" = 4,790, "entertainer Junaid Khan" = zero. This makes it clear that no one will be searching "entertainer" which is legitimate for wikt:entertainers, people who multi-perform in the same show, such as vaudeville or cabaret. In ictu oculi (talk) 00:12, 5 September 2013 (UTC)
- (FWIW "cricketer Junaid Khan" = 23,000 about equal to the 13,900 + 4,790 for his namesake so a move to (cricketer) dab seems justified). In Google Books Junaid Khan refers to Junaid Khan (Basmachi leader) (Cüneyt Han in Turkmen) the cricketer and singer-actor don't get a mention. See Junaid Khan (disambiguation).) In ictu oculi (talk) 00:12, 5 September 2013 (UTC)
- Oppose; "(entertainer)" is always a bad way to title an article, and all articles titled that way should be moved to another title. I suppose there will never be a consensus for moving certain present articles, but they are still wrong. 168.12.253.66 (talk) 13:57, 5 September 2013 (UTC)
- Support per nom. Dohn joe (talk) 01:32, 7 September 2013 (UTC)
- Except that nom also wouldn't oppose Junaid Khan (singer). User:BDD, have any thoughts on Dan Smith (singer and tattoo artist)? In ictu oculi (talk) 02:30, 7 September 2013 (UTC)
- Looks like more a singer to me. I notice that there's a red Dan Smith (singer) on the dab page, but it would be simple enough to go Dan Smith (British singer) and Dan Smith (New Zealand singer). I'm skeptical that his tattoo work alone would make him notable. It looks like about half of the tattoo artists from that reality show have articles, though, so it's a tough call. On the other hand, it's entirely possible his notability as a musician led to his part on the reality show. --BDD (talk) 04:02, 7 September 2013 (UTC)

Name change
editIt is requested to change the page name to Junaid Khan (Pakistani actor) as there is a page called Junaid Khan (Indian actor). So it will help avoid confusion.
