M.J.3 date, country, M.J.22
editAccording to Jane's AWA 1966/7, the first of these (the MJ-3, that is) was built in Canada. It doesn't give a first flight date but it does say "built" not "being built", so it probably predates the US machine by a decade or more. It also says "The wings of the Sirocco are basically similar in planform to those of the MJ3 ... although of increased span.", which is rather different to our take. Where does our version come from (could do with some inline refs)? It's not Simpson, I know.
Also: Simpson, who we cite, says the MJ22 has "a 150 hp engine and a strengthened airframe" not a twin. Source? I'll have a look in Jane's 1987/8 (since we cite it) next time I'm at our local library, to see what it has to say. TSRL (talk) 20:17, 24 September 2010 (UTC)
- It is in Jane's 1989, which Simpson may have used as his source, so I have corrected that bit. Don't know if any, or how many, were built.TSRL (talk) 15:40, 27 September 2010 (UTC)
Variants
editWould be good to know where the rest of this section is sourced - I've put in a couple of inlines -, particularly on numbers. Personally, I'm not convinced that we need to include the MJ-20, since it was "not built" and we know nothing about it. Ditto the Orage, even though there is more to say. Sources? Neither mentioned by JAWA89 or Simpson.
Simpson does mention the Shadow but does not say it had a retractable u/c. You'd have thought he would, so I've deleted that detail for now. TSRL (talk) 20:44, 27 September 2010 (UTC)
Dart
editRedirected Jurca Dart to here for now; it uses almost the same words and has no extra content. This follows consultation on the WikiProject Aircraft page. Still unclear about sources (and the earlier machine noted above), but hope to get the Encyclopaedia of Aviation shortly and will visit both the Jane's mentioned (1983 and 1987) next library trip.TSRL (talk) 07:50, 28 September 2010 (UTC)
- JAWA 83 has full Dart details, Jane's E of A just a mention, no detail at all.TSRL (talk) 20:42, 15 October 2010 (UTC)
