AIDS and Homosexuality

edit

This entry seems to be full of claims that he was gay and died of AIDS that are not references and not supported anywhere else online, such as "On one occasion, the two males met two sisters and the four of them spent the remainder of the evening at Strauss' house in the West Hollywood Hills, with the girls watching Stauss and Petersen getting it on."

This is apparently a prank, hoax, slander, or whatever you want to call it. I am removing some of them now and I would recommend that they be removed if they are added until they are validated.

Furthermore, there seems to be purely hateful, non-encyclopedic entries such as saying that his amputation "began his evolution to spineless Rat". I hope whoever is doing all this understands that slander is a crime and posting hateful lies about a dead person is socially reprehensible.

Serious problems in a BLP article

edit

The article needs a serious combing and the addition of a lot more inline references. I'm not going to touch it since it broadly involves Scientology and other issues. AndroidCat (talk) 03:27, 5 November 2009 (UTC)Reply

Name

edit

Why is the article at Justin Tanner Petersen when the intro says Justin Tanner Peterson? Why is Justin Petersen red, and why does the article's name include the middle name? (or Justin Peterson if the intro is right). Gene Nygaard (talk) 03:54, 30 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

I've added redirects at Justin Petersen and Agent Steal. Rob T Firefly (talk) 04:47, 28 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

Death

edit

Last night on Off the Hook, a talk radio program on which I work, we reported what we know so far about Justin Petersen's death. There are not many details being made public so far, but we were able to report that he was found dead in his Los Angeles apartment in early-mid March, about two weeks ago.

The broadcast is posted online here, scroll down to "03/31/2010" and download or stream the MP3. The relevant part of the program starts at 4:50 in the file, and ends around 11:50.

I am not editing the article or adding this information myself because I'm part of this news outlet, which itself had certain involvement with Petersen in the past as discussed in the above excerpt, and I don't wish to get near WP:COI. Instead I'm leaving the info here on the talk page, for the rest of you to go over and decide what to do with this source and data.

In the interest of full disclosure I also point out my own recent edits to the article on March 28, in which I did not touch the article body. I only added the copyedit tag and Petersen's MySpace link. Rob T Firefly (talk) 06:56, 1 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

I am removing this citation and cause of death because the reference provides no support for it and there is no other confirmatory evidence of this on the Internet. It appears to have been a prank.

Reason for medication

edit

I was a close friend with Justin and, while I don't know whether it'll be possible to verify it, the reason he was taking prescription meds at the time was due to advanced liver disease brought about by heavy alcohol abuse. I don't know whether it's even relevant to his page. He was also involved in an accident with a car a few days beforehand. The best I can do to verify my friendship with him is through MySpace but that doesn't count for much. I also have a bunch of emails with verifiable headers from my old Hotmail account.
