maximum firing range?

edit

Is the maximum firing range 5.5 km correct? Effective range of 500m looks realistic, but I don't think you have chance of hitting a target more than 5 km away with any rifle ... Křžut (talk) 13:13, 30 May 2020 (UTC)Reply

The maximum firing range is realistic for well designed full-power rifle cartridges but useless for normal aimed direct firing at point targets. The standard sight line does not allow range settings past 1.5 km. The GP 11 projectiles will be plunging downwards at a target several kilometers more away. Plunging fire is used by artillery and machine guns (using similar full-power rifle ammunition) and is regarded as a method of combating/harrasing distant (area) targets.--Francis Flinch (talk) 19:09, 30 May 2020 (UTC)Reply
