"KLCS is one of five television stations directly licensed to Los Angeles that continues to utilize their original call signs. The others are KTLA, KTTV, KCET, and KMEX."
edit"KLCS is one of five television stations directly licensed to Los Angeles that continues to utilize their original call signs. The others are KTLA, KTTV, KCET, and KMEX", is not necessarily entirely accurate, as it omits,
the "w6 -" callsigns of the 1930's, 1940's.
I've been speaking w/ someone from that era who recalls something called "White's Radio Log".

There is, as well, "The Education Station (for all generations)".
My recollection is that in the 1980's & 1990's, & early third millennium the motto had been "Klcs television for all of Southern California", "Class television for all of Southern California". That is because it is owned by Los Angeles City School District.

Since I wrote that, I've been further considering it:
Changing from "...all of Southern California", to "The Education Station (for all generations)", is an improvement; if "...all of Southern California" were true, then I would be capable of seeing it. The new motto is less humorous, more bland; but, more accurate.
