Removal of Weather Channel information
editI disagree with the deletion of the Weather Channel Information.
It's a part of the station as much as the news is. It's on cable channel 9 in Colorado Springs, and 247 in Pueblo. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 63.255.62.26 (talk • contribs) 11:24, 23 January 2007
Translator co-located with main transmitter?
editAccording to TVFool.com,
- the main transmitter (RF channel 42) is located at lat/long 38.744991 -104.861361
- the Colorado Springs translator (K30JM-D, RF channel 30) is located at lat/long 38.745824 -104.861639
In other words, these two transmitters are only a few feet away from each other.
Is this information accurate? Why would they erect a translator so close to the main transmitter? Thanks 71.221.123.158 (talk) 00:16, 9 February 2011 (UTC)
- I can provide a little background. The transmitter for 5 analog used to be near Pueblo. When KOAA started broadcasting digital, they put their digital transmitter in the same location as their analog 30 translator. So the better question is, why do they still have the 30 translator, now in digital? That one I can't answer. -- Ken_g6 (factors | composites) 00:30, 9 February 2011 (UTC)
- Yes, and it's an even better question when you compare the signal strength maps for KOAA and the translator:
- http://www.tvfool.com/?option=com_wrapper&Itemid=80&q=call%3dk30jm
- If those maps are accurate, there's no location anymore where the translator provides a stronger signal than the primary transmitter. Seems like the translator is a waste of electricity. Do they operate it simply for the convenience of viewers who don't want to do another channel scan? 75.163.196.7 (talk) 04:02, 25 March 2014 (UTC)
