Is it known that chip is just an EEPROM, i.e. there's no smart-card-like cpu? The NSA museum display card just says it's a custom chip. Phr (talk) 22:34, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
- It's generally been described as such, e.g. http://www.jproc.ca/crypto/stuiii.html. A lot of the gov't web sites that talked about this have disappeared. I believe it is just a 64K EEPROM. That was hot stuff at the time the CIK was introduced. The later Fortezza card has a processor.--agr 23:55, 18 July 2006 (UTC)
