need fact checking and vandalism review
editHello, All:
I just found obvious misdirection of links. As of 2022-10-29 the second and third sentences read, "Born in Rangpur, Bangladesg. He got his education from Dhaka International University." This code deliberately misdirects "Rangpur" to "Kabul" and "Bangladesg" (NOT "Bangledesh") to "Afghanistan". That's like confusing Santiago, Chile, with Sao Paolo, Brazil, or Zurich, Switzerland with Stockholm, Sweden.
I found this article after finding references to Kabir Mohabbat in other publications. I sincerely hope that the narrative in this article can be backed by credible sources. I worry, because I only find 5 "References". I would feel more comfortable about this if it had more detailed notes, e.g., giving individual "refs" for his date and place of birth, etc.
However, I'm not prepared to do the research myself. Instead, I want to thank all who have contributed to this article and hope that at least one of them who knows the references will take the time to review this article for other issues and add "refs" to make it easier for a naive reader to check basic facts -- while also correcting any other silliness like the obviously misdirected links I found (and am correcting). Thanks again, DavidMCEddy (talk) 21:15, 29 October 2022 (UTC)

- I want to thank you all for your contributions to this article while pointing out a fatal flaw: This article clearly confuses two different people named Kabir Mohabbat: One was allegedly born 2000-12-20 in Bangladesh. The other was "a temporary envoy of the United States to the Taliban", ending in August 2001. These two cannot be the same person unless the date of birth is off by a at least a couple of decades.
- Can at least one of you, and preferably several, fix this, either by splitting this article into two if both people named "Kabir Mihabbat" are notable or by deleting references to the one who is not?
- FYI, <-- St. Clair and Cockburn (2004) How Bush Was Offered Bin Laden and Blew It-->Jeffrey St. Clair; Alexander Cockburn (1 November 2004). "How Bush Was Offered Bin Laden and Blew It". CounterPunch. ISSN 1086-2323. Wikidata Q114923599. say, "Kabir Mohabbat is a 48-year businessman in Houston, Texas. Born in Paktia province in southern Afghanistan, he’s from the Jaji clan (from which also came Afghanistan’s last king). Educated at St Louis University" ... .
- This helps explain the silliness in the lede noted above that he was "Born in Rangpur, Bangladesg. He got his education from Dhaka International University.": The older Kabir Mohabbat was reportedly born in Paktia, which is just south of Kabul and was educated at St Louis University in St. Louis, Missouri. Someone made a silly attempt to reconcile the records of the two obviously different people named Kabir Mohabbat, and no one else felt moved to comment on it until now.
- Thanks for your contributions to trying to make the sum of all human knowledge more accessible to everyone. DavidMCEddy (talk) 03:18, 30 October 2022 (UTC)
- I believe it to be a case of vandalism. Everything that was off about the article seems to have happened on September 25, 2022, by a user who has only made edits on that day, and most of their edits have been reverted. I have now done my best to revert their 3 edits on this article. FreeToDisagree (talk) 16:07, 30 October 2022 (UTC)
