grammar
editI have a question to users who really know their grammar: Is the "Raion" part of the name written in upper or lower-case letters in this case? I have removed the Ukrainian adjective "-tskyi" (see Kiev Oblast as an example, which is not "Kievskyi Oblast" or whatever here), but I just am not sure about the "Raion" or "raion" part. I am posting my question here in order to gather attention since I think this is probably the best place to gather quality feedback. Thanks everyone. Gryffindor (talk) 19:07, 1 January 2009 (UTC)
- In English, names (i.e. proper nouns) are capitalized and regular nouns are not. So even though the word "county" is usually not capitalized, it is capitalized when it is in the name of "Orange County". So I would think "Raion" would have to be capitalized when it is in the name of a place. — Reinyday, 02:33, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
- Administrator note As all of the other Raions in Kiev seem to be capitalized, and there is not much feedback here, I am closing this as not moved. Any further comment on this topic should probably be taken to WT:UKRAINE for wider discussion with subject-matter experts.--Aervanath lives in the Orphanage 05:46, 7 January 2009 (UTC)
