Usual diacritic question

edit

I object. Both the official National Park web site and the signs at the park are spelled with a disacrtical mark: Honokōhau. I understand the technical reason why the article titles should avoid them, but what exactly breaks when they are used as text in the article? Please clarify, thanks. Honokōhau Settlement and Kaloko-Honokōhau National Historical ParkKaloko-Honokōhau National Historical Park – This page was boldly moved from its proposed name to its current name in 2008 in an effort to add the name of the Honokōhau Settlement Historic Site that is a part of the Historic Park to the title. This is inconsistent with other National Park Service page names. Generally, compound article names should be avoided, instead the page name should be the primary, most holistic title and a redirect should be used for the sub-topic (as already exists in this case), targeted to a section if appropriate. A Google search for Honokōhau Settlement returns Kaloko-Honokōhau National Historical Park on Google maps and has its NPS webpage as the top hit. Mdewman6 (talk) 07:11, 15 August 2020 (UTC)Reply
