Kamaru Usman is also known as Marty Usman, would like to include that under nicknames. 46.123.244.188 (talk) 10:14, 9 April 2020 (UTC)
- This has already been challenged by someone (in the edit history), so this isn't uncontroversial and should be discussed. However here is an interview with him about the nickname, here is an old high-school infocard. Don't see a reason to omit it. – Thjarkur (talk) 11:30, 9 April 2020 (UTC)

Is it relevant, or appropriate, to mention his father?
editI previously added the following to the article:
Muhammed Nasiru Usman, who had previous convictions in Tarrant County for theft and drunk driving,[1] was convicted in May 2010 of various offenses, including health care fraud and money laundering, related to a health care fraud scheme he ran. He was sentenced to fifteen years' imprisonment and ordered to pay $1,317,179 in restitution,[2] and was released from FCI Seagoville on March 16, 2021.[3][4]
This was promptly deleted as another user deemed it irrelevant. I understand that my edit was a little long-winded, but should his fathers conviction and imprisonment (which Usman has spoken about candidly in numerous interviews) be mentioned at all? – Shaolin Punk (talk) 21:50, 25 April 2021 (UTC)

I'm an attorney. It's not relevant. It's a disgrace that it's included.

The religion in the source is muslim, however on the page it's written christian. 192.24.60.136 (talk) 04:19, 28 April 2021 (UTC)
- Source says he was born to a Muslim family and converted to Christianity. I have modified the text to reflect this. Hope this stops the flurry of requests about his religion. Solipsism 101 (talk) 11:11, 28 April 2021 (UTC)

What other "personal life" section on ANY wikipedia page brings in family and demonstrates improper conduct by aforesaid? Sure, it is fact, but has nothing to do with Kamara Usman. Be careful, the attorneys are circling like vultures ready to find out why this should be included. Is this trying to discredit a man via his father? UFCContenders (talk) 02:33, 7 November 2021 (UTC)

Update to 3.3.8 3 Mixed martial arts career // Professional MMA career // The Ultimate Fighter // Ultimate Fighting Championship // 2021
editUsman rematched Colby Covington for the UFC Welterweight Championship on November 6, 2021 at UFC 268.[85] Usman retained his championship, being declared the winner via unanimous decision.[86]
The use of the word "Retained" is incorrect.
"Retained" is only applicable if a championship contest is ruled a draw or there is no announced victor. If this happens, the champion is deemed to have "retained" his belt, not "defended" it
Usman "Defended" his UFC Title as he won the contest in question. — Preceding unsigned comment added by SuperDutchGold (talk • contribs) 15:20, 7 February 2022 (UTC)
Trilogy
editCassiopeia Do you think Usman will have three fights with Edwards on March 18, because that's what "The trilogy between Edwards and Usman is scheduled on March 18, 2023" means. Killashaw (talk) 23:02, 16 January 2023 (UTC)
- Killashaw, trilogy means 3. It is duplicated when the body text states "the third bout of trilogy". You can change it to "the trilogy bout with Edward for the UFC Welterweight Championship was scheduled on......" if you want. Stay safe and best. Cassiopeia talk 23:20, 16 January 2023 (UTC)
- "trilogy bout" is better, but I prefer "the third bout of their trilogy" or "will fight for the third time". The whole sentence should be rewritten. "is scheduled on" means the act of scheduling is done on March 18, not that the fight is scheduled to happen on that date.--Killashaw (talk) 23:46, 16 January 2023 (UTC)
- Killashaw, Your choice but not "the third bout of their trilogy" as it trilogy is already stated "third" time/bout. We can use "the trilogy bout is scheduled on ..... at....." that would be better. Cassiopeia talk 03:29, 17 January 2023 (UTC)
