1001 Nacht

edit

While "1001 Nächte" is grammatically correct in German, in German the KG and the tales are known as "1001 Nacht" (tausend und eine Nacht). On the origin of the name, I can only speculate, but I have a strong suspicion that the name is a good example of late-war German military (black) humour. The name either intended to make fun of the increasingly melodramatic names given to military units, or to make fun of the constant news bulletins of German military victories.

The statement about "heavy losses" is rather relative. The KG was the size of a small regiment (maybe 1500 men, but probably less), and it is credited with inflicting heavy losses on a Soviet field army of something like 50,000 - 70,000 men and a Soviet tank corps of maybe 15,000 men. While the KG may well have engaged elements of these Soviet units, it is very doubtful that the KG inflicted heavy losses on these Soviet units as a whole. Perhaps it is more accurate to write the KG inflicted heavy losses on elements of these units and leave it at that. Cheers, W. B. Wilson (talk) 19:28, 11 March 2010 (UTC)Reply

edit

The article does not list any sources, and the refimprove tag is from 2009. I plan to remove the history and OOB. If this unit was notable, I assume then someone would have added citations to the content. Otherwise, per WP:V, it needs to go. Please let me know if there are any concerns. This article is pure crap

edit

Which sane person cares a pinch of owl dung about a dubious unit of a lousy handful die-hard Nazi goons during the last days of WW2? No one would ever consider to create such an article in the German Wikpedia, but apparently Adolf Trump and Eva May make everything possible for Anglo-Saxon Neonazis. Yuck! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2003:E2:33D5:4D73:95BE:87C7:5124:DE5C (talk) 14:09, 21 September 2017 (UTC)Reply
