Disambiguation or Redirect?

edit

I see the page changing between disambiguation and specific pages. Can we resolve this verbally, like adults? DAJF has mentioned his reasoning in his edit summary, while Uncle G has not. Perhaps we can achieve a mutually agreed conclusion. McKorn (talk) 23:51, 11 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

  • No problem. I must admit I was surprised to see my earlier edit reverted, but I am happy to explain my reasoning for replacing the disambiguation page with a simple redirect to Kando, Burkina Faso. As I mentioned in my earlier edit summary, neither the Jiandao nor Yamaha Corporation articles mention the word "kando" anywhere within them, so I see no reason at present to disambiguate to either of those articles. The Japanese word "kando" does appear to be used in Yamaha's corporate philosophy, but it is simply a Japanese word meaning "emotion", and has no intrinsic connections with Yamaha. If it were a well-known slogan that was widely recognized as belonging to Yamaha, then the situation might be different, but that is clearly not the case here (it's not mentioned on the Yamaha article for a start). I too would be keen to hear Uncle G's reasoning for reinstating the disambiguation page, but in the meantime, I will at least tidy it up to conform to MOS guidelines for disambiguation pages.

Also, I hope you don't mind, but I have taken the liberty of changing the title of this section, as I don't think war has broken out yet! --DAJF (talk) 00:33, 12 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

    • Please go and read Jiandao again, carefully this time. Its several romanizations are given in the article. Then read all of the earlier versions of this very article, follow their external hyperlinks, and think about why it might be sensible to point people who want to write about Yamaha Corporation to the article that is actually about it, as the place to write, rather than here.
