Name

As mentioned above this dog may not be named Kanellos (and that Kanellos died in 2008 is and now buried at the Polytechneio university in Athens[4]), but Louk (short for Loukaniko). Perhaps the article should be renamed? The dog is often refered to as Riot dog or Rebel dog as it is perhaps mostly known as such. // Liftarn (talk) 12:52, 9 May 2010 (UTC)

I agree this page needs to be changed, as it stands it is inaccurate. Either accurate information about the correct dog should be added to this page, or the name should be changed to something like Rebel dog or Riot Dog, as that could include information about both Kanellos and Louk. Some independent sources that identify Louk's name correctly, and point out the mistake made in Guardian article, include: Lib Com and Athens Indymedia. The thing is I don't think any source considered by Wikipedia as "reliable" will likely clear this up. In regards to a dog that shows up at riots in Greece, I am quite sure that the most appropriate to say who Kanellos and who Loukanikos are (both named by Greek rioters themselves) are the Greek rioters themselves. Guardian, The NY Times or any other "reliable" (from WP's point of view) source will most likely be inaccurate or wrong about this. The two blogs mentioned above (Louk and Kanelos) are the most appropriate sources of information, since they are written by people who are actually close to these dogs in person.
