Talk:Kara McCoy

A search of the National Archives collection on Mapping our Anzacs has failed to find any mention of Kara McCoy. A Google search only finds the one link given here as a reference and Google Books reveals no mention of this person. Tullyis (talk) 07:43, 19 April 2014 (UTC)Reply

I have also searched National Archives of Australia, and another database compiled about Australian WWI nurses [1], and I could not find and mention of Kara Moser or Kara McCoy, or any similar name.
I have found records of Kara Moser (or Mrs McCoy) living in Sway UK who was a part time Red Cross volunteer from November 1916 until June 1918 undertaking nursing duties at Morant Hospital, Brockenhurst. Morant Hospital was eventually administered by New Zealand.[2] So I also searched the New Zealand WWI personnel records and could not find a similar name [3].
To try to understand a bit more about her to direct a my search for notability, I found records on Ancestry.com.au (which I am not sure how to reference here because of the paywall?), of a Miss K Moser departing England on ship Ionic to New Zealand on 31 March 1920, and returning to England on 18 October 1920 on the Ruahine.
Otherwise the ancestry.com.au records show a Kara Moser born in Sway in 1898 (census records from 1900 and 1911 confirm this) who travels to the USA (I can't see these primary records because I don't have USA ancestry membership) and marries Chester Axton McCoy (24 May 1923 • Santa Ana, California, USA). Her Death is listed as 17 January 2005 in Sebastopol CA. Which sounds like the person listed here. -This would suggest she was British, and living in her home town during the war.
I cannot find records connecting her to Australia at all. There is a possible link to New Zealand, but nothing suggesting that she was part of the military of either country. So the suggestion she was the oldest living Australian female veteran seems unlikely to me.
I have not tried to verify the claim that "After the war she worked in France with the Imperial War Graves Commission." because I don't think that would help with notability if it is correct.
