Walking to England?

edit

How exactly can he walk to England? Is it possible to walk through the Chunnel?

Karl relates in his book that he hopes to walk through one of the service tunnels of the Channel Tunnel Tommfuller (talk) 12:03, 7 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Speed variation?

edit

If he started in 1998 and has done 17000 miles by 2006 (8 years) this is an average of 6 miles a day - plausible given days of rest and mountains etc. However why do the remaining 19000 miles only take him 3 years - an average of 17 miles a day. What is different about asia compared to America? -- SGBailey 13:17, 5 May 2006 (UTC)Reply

He isn't actually going all the way around the world (from point A back to point A); instead he is going from south end of South America to England. I guess the atlantic is not part of the world?

He isn't traveling every day, and in fact is not ONLY traveling on foot. Rather, it appears he is doing the trail in pieces with portions in between where he may fly/drive somewhere else. -- Fool 5 May 2006

Are you sure about that? Nothing on his webpage seems to indicate that he's using animal or vehicular transportation. I'm not sure why Asia and Europe would take a lot faster, but one assumption would be that trekking through the mountains and jungles of South/Central America, and the frigid, icy landscape of North America and Siberia (where roads are also relatively poor) would take a lot longer and be a lot more exhausting than walking through the relatively flat landscape of Central Asia and Europe. This is only an assumption though. 12:30, 8 May 2006 (UTC)

Merging?

edit

Someone (or, rather, User:Sonjaaa and [User:SGBailey]]) suggested that Goliath Expedition be merged into here. The tag has been in place for over a month and there has been no discussion - as thus, I'm merging them. Woohoo! --Jobjörn (talk) 12:29, 13 June 2006 (UTC)Reply

Update

edit

From a postscript on a movie on his youtube channel https://youtube.com/DWBwX3A-GD8?t=2397 it seems the 'steppes to the west' camel trek (https://www.steppestothewest.com) was cut short after 700 km in Bayankhongor and he is continuing alone with his walking trolley. Don't think youtube counts as a reliable source. Reboelje (talk) 19:52, 18 April 2019 (UTC)Reply

Repetition, Caspian Sea paragraph, etc.

edit

It would be useful if the Caspian swim paragraph included its start and finish dates supported by English-language sources, possibly from Facebook until others are published. Perhaps it should be edited so that Caspian Sea and swim/swam only appear once. Other paragraphs would probably also benefit from edits. Mcljlm (talk) 13:43, 23 September 2024 (UTC)Reply

Gets bit repetitive his name many times.
No clear the start or finish date for his swim. Needs more searching.
Facebook is only for registered users so not really good source for Wikipedia.
Pictures of @westboundhorizons sea swim. Instagram account: https://flufi.me/post/3435890555559438290
Would be good to add names of people he swam with. Editorq35 (talk) 11:46, 24 September 2024 (UTC)Reply
