Dissent
editAs a head coach of a major college football team, Karl Dorrell will in his current position always have fans and critics. Critics find fault with his not having a signature win and no victories over crosstown rival USC (until 2006). Fans may well remember 2006 as their favorite season of all time, just because of a 13-9 win over archrival USC.
Free links to fan sites, discussion groups, and blogs will get removed. When Karl's career is over at UCLA, this article should neutrally reflect his accomplishments. Even John Wooden has been attacked by critics, but his records stand.
Looking at the Wikipedia articles for living public figures that are subject to the most criticism in the English-speaking world, George W. Bush and Tony Blair, both have criticism subsections in their articles. Perhaps the article Criticism of Karl Dorrell could be created and linked from a subsection. Even then, in the criticism of George W. Bush there are only links to articles with real tangible points. There are no links to sites selling T-shirts trying to make a quick buck on getting someone fired from their job. Group29 15:36, 4 December 2006 (UTC)
Also, I disagree with the text about "heavily favored over Washington", as the betting line was running 3 on sports books sites. Group29 22:57, 4 December 2006 (UTC) Group29 21:25, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
- Futher research on Wikipedia:Biographies of living persons and Wikipedia:NPOV leads me to believe that the soapbox commentary does not belong. This includes the blog sources. When Karl Dorrell is no longer the head coach at UCLA, the reasons will be given. Until then, speculation about his status ends with the fact that he is still the head coach. Opinions about his success or lack thereof also do not belong in the article. Group29 21:25, 23 October 2007 (UTC)
Removed references to blogs and their concerns, as they are inappropriate and in violation of Wikipedia:NPOV and Wikipedia:NOR. 75.82.34.247 (talk) 08:36, 13 September 2009 (UTC)
