Election?
editAre Bishops elected in the Roman Catholic Church? Aren't they appointed by the Pope? Cush (talk) 10:36, 24 November 2007 (UTC)
- I corrected this wording error. Nothing points to the idea that Card. Lehmann was elected; he was appointed by Pope John Paul II. Alekjds talk 16:51, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
- Well, a bishop is elected even if elected by the Pope. That's why one speaks about bishops-elect. Nevertheless, Cardinal Lehmann was in fact elected in a voting process by the Cathedral Chapter of Mainz, which concodatarily has a right of nomination. That he was appointed is true as well, as the Chapter's nominee needs, of course, a papal appointment. --77.4.92.66 (talk) 09:45, 15 November 2010 (UTC)
Rotary Club
editI remember reading somewhere that Cardinal Lehmann was affiliated with the Rotary Club, I would like to double-check this. ADM (talk) 12:44, 3 February 2009 (UTC)
Karl-Heinz Lehmann?
editIn the New York Times article on the exoneration of Dietrich Bonhoeffer it is mentioned that a theology professor named Karl-Heinz Lehmann pushed for his re-trial; is he the same person? 2601:249:1880:3AE0:5DFC:F919:6C53:9AFC (talk) 14:29, 17 March 2024 (UTC)
