Neutrality

edit

Language is very florid and opinionated on this and needs a lot of work. I don't normally edit Wikipedia articles, but this one is pretty egregious. Basically everything is pulled from the Goodman book, and it shows. Some examples:

"He set up a laboratory using only the most rudimentary of equipment, and began his revolution."

"In 1924 he published much of this in his Magnum Opus, Erdbaumechanik (Soil Mechanics), which revolutionized the field to great acclaim."

"Terzaghi was much sought-after as a dinner companion and was a fascinating conversationalist. His striking good looks and evident power was very attractive to women."

It looks as though the article has been substantially revised since 2015. I will be editing the page in the next week or so when I get a copy of the de Boer book for reference. Unless there are further objections, I'd like to take down the [POV] template at that time.

Does the last link to the school in Istambul work for anyone. My browser just says "Waiting for www.fbe.itu.edu.tr... for about 5 minutes. Then goes to done with a blank screen. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by TwoWildnCrazyKids (talkcontribs).

No it doesn't work. If you want to see what was there, you can see Google's cache of it here: Google Basar 22:06, 18 March 2007 (UTC)Reply

Something is wrong here

This article paints an unrealistic and far too pretty picture of v. T. It is suggested that the book of Boer (The Engineer and the scandal) be consulted to to give a more accurate account of this not very sympathetic - and from a scientific point of view, extremely harmful, person. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.123.210.10 (talk) 22:31, 13 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Agreed — a concise overview was given by Fannin in the Canadian Journal of Civil Engineering.

Clarification: de Boer et alii describe Terzaghi as having "acted honourably" in that affair.

Daughter

edit

Karl Terzaghi had a daughter, born in 1941. I noticed that the article mentions his son but not Margaret. would someone mind adding this in? thanks P.S. fun fact, Margaret is actually my neighbor, however, she goes by Peggy now. 209.198.59.61 (talk) 17:17, 20 February 2017 (UTC)Reply
