To delete or not to delete
editThere is no "town" called "Kashara" in Kursk Oblast. There is no "Kashara Region" either, and only Russian republics have "capitals". There are two villages called "Kashara" (and one "Kasharka") but the information here is not enough to figure out which one is meant. (Revision as of 15:07, 27 January 2010 user:Ezhiki)
- The reason I created this page was because of an edit on the page Ilyushin_Il-2. There is a quote there that mentions this town/village whatever it is. To have this place described is useful for anyone who wishes to place that attack in the context of the German advance.
- I would suggest rather than delete the article it is fixed so that it is accurate. -- PBS (talk) 18:40, 27 January 2010 (UTC)
- Philip, do you know which one of the two Kasharas is mentioned in the Il-2 article? That would help clarify the issues I raised in the prod nom. Or, I can turn this page into a set index, because in its current shape it contains no salvageable information whatsoever.—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); 18:45, January 27, 2010 (UTC)
- Only one is referenced in the external links were is the other one? The external links gives coordinates of 51.8397, 35.0908 which would appear to be a reasonable place for such a battle to have taken place. But Google Map give no details for the area. The satellite image appears to show a cluster of buildings. Perhaps there are other better sources in Russian. -- PBS (talk) 19:56, 27 January 2010 (UTC)
- I refuse to accept fallingrain as a reference in principle :) It's such a collection of misleading junk, you won't believe it. As for Kasharas, they are both in Kursk Oblast, ~75 km from one another (one is at 52°17′04″N 36°06′22″E / 52.28444°N 36.10611°E, the other–at 51°50′21″N 35°05′06″E / 51.83917°N 35.08500°E). Since they are so close, it's hard to tell for sure which one is meant in Il-2 (the whole Kursk Oblast was a place of fierce battles during WWII).
- Anyway, I'll convert this to a set now. In its current state, it's more harm than good. Please let me know if you have concerns.—Ëzhiki (Igels Hérissonovich Ïzhakoff-Amursky) • (yo?); 20:13, January 27, 2010 (UTC)
- Happy with that. Someone in the future can work out which one is the correct one for the Ilyushin_Il-2 article (I suspect it was the one to the west), but someone with a detailed history of the battle should be able to work it out. -- PBS (talk) 08:02, 28 January 2010 (UTC)
